Songs of the Ainur – The Birth of the World and the Fall of a Star
This artwork depicts the creation of the world as told in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion. Inspired by the Art Nouveau style, it captures the harmonious beauty and power of the Ainur’s music—the divine beings who shaped the world through their song. At the same time, it illustrates the banishment of Melkor (as Morgoth was then called), whose discord shattered the harmony and cast the first shadows upon creation. The flowing lines and intricate ornaments emphasize the contrast between divine order and the rising rebellion.
In 2024, this piece was selected as one of the official designs for the Tolkien Tage in Geldern and premiered at the event.
